GDT 2026 Day 15 Mary Vaux to Little Shovel

It had rained at one point overnight so it was a wet tent to pack up yet again. I also put on all my rain gear since I knew the trail would be super wet. The trail was mostly through forest all day. It opened up at one point for a few kms but it was an unpleasant bush bash. A little bit further on, I met a crew of GDTA volunteers heading out to prune that section back. They have their work cut out for them. I gave them my thanks and headed on. My feet got very sore in the afternoon so I just put my head down to get to my campsite. I’m glad that I did since a thunderstorm started right after I got the tent set up so I was able to shelter while it passed. It wasn’t too bad, never directly overhead.
