GDT Day 4 Tumbling Creek to McArthur Creek

The tent was soaked again from the rain last night and it was so gross packing it up covered in dirt that got all over me and my hands. Yuck! Then during breakfast a fly flew into my mouth and stung my tongue, ouch! It smarted but thankfully didn’t last long and didn’t swell or anything. Not the best start to the day.

However, it was a beautiful day. The trail had a little of everything on offer; alpine meadows with picas scampering around, alpine rocks, the stunning rock wall, glaciers, moraines, waterfalls and forest.  It was too bad that the air quality wasn’t great in the afternoon. Also the trail down from the last pass was very long and overgrown with blow downs, exhausting. I took one blow down too quickly and nicked my pants and my leg on a protruding branch so now I have another graze on that shin. At least neither is serious. I’m tired tonight so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves

I ended up making it into camp and set up my tent in some trees. It was warm and not raining so I was hoping the trees would keep off the condensation. Three GDTers showed up a few hours later, a brother and sister from London and a young Australian man. It was fun to have some people to chat with at dinner.
