I had a dry tent this morning, hoorah! It was cold though, despite it being a warmer evening the previous night. I managed to hit the trail in 1h15min after getting up, which believe or not was a record for me on this trip so far. Hopefully I can get it down to an hour.
The trail was an old forestry road that follows the Ottertail river out to the T-can. The trail was mostly through forest but it did open up for some views a couple of times.

It was fairly easy going and I got to the highway around 11 am. Then it was an unpleasant 5km along the highway before hitting a quiet dirt road the rest of the way into Field. I got cell service as I got closer to Field and managed to replan the next few days since the next section has a closure due to a wildfire. I will do a loop out of Field in Yoho National Park and then hitch to Saskatchewan River Crossing instead of walking through. I had lunch at a cafe and then went to the Parks Canada visitor centre with the three hikers I met last night. They made their plans for the reroute and we all went our separate ways. I checked into the Truffle pig, did my chores and then relaxed a bit before heading to dinner at the inn’s bistro. I had an artic char risotto, so delicious.
