GDT day 11

I camped with Luke and Carlos last night. We even had my first campfire of the hike. It was really nice to have some company at camp. I left ahead of them this morning but we were planning to meet up again to camp.

The first part of the day was a lot of uphill, but there were great switchbacks so I could climb at a decent pace without being too out of breath. There was also a nice breeze to keep me cool as Racehorse mountain came into view.

When I stopped for lunch it started to cloud over and as I left my lunch spot the rain and hail started, then the thunder

I sheltered under some trees for a bit but then decided to keep going, the trail looked to be pretty much in the forest so I wasn’t exposed. It did eventually stop after about an hour and I stopped by the next campsite to dry off a bit. As I was packing up, Luke showed up and we continued on together for the last 8 km to a creek with some tent spots nearby. Carlos messaged Luke that he’s staying at the previous campsite.

Starting to clear after the storm

It was about 7 pm when we arrived and we still had a bit of sun to dry our stuff out a bit more, although my socks and shoes are quite wet still from the damp trail.
