Breakfast this morning was quiche and cinnamon roll, so delicious. After breakfast, I packed my bag since I have to change accommodations tonight as the BNB was fully booked. I went to the museum and learned more about the history of Coleman before hanging out at a cafe, where I was also able to pick up a GDT bag tag. Later in the afternoon, Ken drove me and my bag over to the motel I booked for tonight, but he will come back for me in the morning so I can have breakfast with them again. I just can’t get over their generosity. I settled in and then met up with Roger dinner. He got into town yesterday and seems to be having a good trail so far.

As I was unpacking at the motel, I realized that one of my trekking poles is broken, the metal tip is gone. So after another delicious breakfast of crepes, Ken took me to the gear shop so I could get new ones and then up the near the end of the road walk out of town. From there, I had a couple of km on a road before heading down a single track path that actually had GDT blazes.

The trail went up slowly alternating between forest and meadows. In the meadows, I had views of Crowsnest Mountain and some peaks along the divide on the other side.

The trail eventually started to climb more steeply, then came out in the open and contoured the Mountains on the divide. I really enjoy the wide open views.

After a lunch break near a stream, it was ridiculously steeply up with no switchbacks before some switchbacks started and the incline decreased. I finally made it over the ridge and to a view point of Window Mountain.

After the up, it was down of course, before climbing again, although much more reasonably. I finally arrived at the junction with an ATV trail but it was short lived before climbing quite steeply again up to Window lake and my home for the night. There were a few day trippers here when I arrived but they left not too long after. No other campers to be seen. I set up and had dinner with the company of a chippy and got into my tent after leaving my food in the bear lockers. I was writing this when all of a sudden I could hear something trying to open the bear lockers. I was extremely relieved to hear voices a moment later and it turns out I will have some fellow GDTers camping with me tonight.
